The redevelopment transformed Hongqi Village, the oldest settlement of Hengqin island, from a dense urban village into an inviting commercial and cultural promenade , creating a new image visible cross the bay from Macau. Internally, pedestrian only retail streets and colonnades were designed to enrich the urban experience and address the lack of open space, creating inviting spaces for residents and tourists alike.
